portfolio > formas y colores

formas y colores (shapes and colors) was inspired by a trip to Ecuador in july 2017.
I was miserable working for a catering company in a kitchen indoors with no sunlight. I was still mourning my son’s suicide. I quit my job and decided to visit my parents in Ecuador.
Even though I had lived in Ecuador for many years, I now began to appreciate all the beauty in my surroundings with more gratitude .
Everywhere I looked the colors seemed brighter and in great abundance - fruit markets, tropical flowers, mountainous landscapes. Many houses were painted with lush and vibrant hues in the most unexpected ways. There were beautiful shapes and colors everywhere.
The grief and sorrow had changed me, allowed me to appreciate beauty more than ever. It felt like an illuminating discovery that transformed my state of mind.
