Vanessa Monfreda is a collage/ mixed media artist born in Valparaiso, Chile in 1970. Her mother is Chilean; her father, half-Chilean, half-Austrian. From age 2 to 16, she lived in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. In 1986 her family moved to Quito, Ecuador followed by a 1997 immigration to Indianapolis, Indiana.
The excess of junk mail and consumerism feed her obsession with collage and recycle art.
For the past two years she has been creating paper mache creatures loosely called "My imaginary friends".
